The purpose of DeSoto School is simply and directly stated as quality education. Admissions & Enrollment
Interested parents are to come to the school office and complete an application for admission to be presented to the Board of Directors by the Headmaster. Upon approval the parent will be required to sign an educational contract for tuition and building fund before the student is admitted. Grades 9 - 12 are required to take a drug test before admittance. Income based scholarship applications are available on request.

Requirements for Student Admission

In accordance with Arkansas state law, no child will be admitted to kindergarten unless he or she is five (5) years old on or before August 1 of the school year. Parents must present their child’s birth certificate as proof of age when school begins in August. The August 1 cut-off date also applies to the Pre-K program.

All students are required to present proof that they have received up-to-date immunizations. Exception: The parents provide the school with a state exemption waiver.

No child will be admitted to the school during any school year if he has attained the age of twenty (20) years before October 1 of that year. Exception: Review by the Board of Directors.

No child will be admitted to the school if he or she is or has been married or had a child.

No student shall be admitted to this school who has been suspended or dismissed from another school for any reason. Exception: Review by the Board of Directors.

Testing program for students: Students will be tested at the discretion of the administration.

Drug testing program, Grades 9-12: All students will be subject to random testing throughout the year. A description of the school’s comprehensive Drug/Alcohol Prevention Policy can be found in Section VI of this handbook.

Three (3) character references (with contact information for the references)

Documentation of any medical diagnosis must be given to the office.

Documentation of any custody arrangements must be given to the office.

A student/family interview may be conducted at the discretion of the Administration/Board.

Newly enrolled students are on academic probation for one semester. Academic, conduct, and attendance records will be evaluated by the Administration to determine continued enrollment.
