FRIENDS OF DESOTO

          It is time once again for any friend, patron, parent, or alumnus of DeSoto School to join the Friends of DeSoto organization for the year 2007-2008 by paying their dues of $25.  Each year you will receive a newsletter describing how the school is doing as a whole.  You can check out the school’s website at www.desotothunderbirds.com.

          Each year at homecoming we honor a new group of people (consisting of alumni, parents, teachers, coaches, friends) as inductees into the Friends of DeSoto Hall of Fame.  This year we will honor Larry Delk, David Brooks Griffin, Harry G. Stephens, and Darrel & Mary K. Byrd.  There is a reception before the football game to which honorees, their families, and all Friends of DeSoto are invited.  It is nice to get together and share DeSoto memories.  The inductees receive gifts during a special presentation at half time, and their names are added to the Friends of DeSoto Hall of Fame plaque hanging in the front hall of the school.  Each person honored has played an important role in making DeSoto what it is today. 

          We would like to ask classes who are planning reunions to consider having them on DeSoto’s Homecoming weekend.  It is scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2007.  Homecoming pep rally begins at 2 p.m. in the gym and homecoming court presentation begins about 6 p.m. on the football field.  The football game begins at 7:30 p.m.
